Media Skills for Leaders
Transform your news media skills, so you can be more influential and confident as you represent your organization.
How You Succeed -
As a leader, you are the face of your organization and the best business schools now consider media skills to be one of the benchmarks by which today’s leaders are judged. Leaders who excel with the media can shape perceptions from Main Street to Wall Street. Our coaches have a long and successful track record preparing Fortune 500 leaders and others for a wide range of media encounters – including local news outlets, 60 Minutes, the New York Times, The Globe and Mail, Fox News, CNN, ABC, CBS, CNBC, Bloomberg News and many others.
What You Will Learn -
We will show you how to achieve your organization’s objectives, while also catering to the expectations of 24/7 news media outlets. We will start by assessing your media strengths and weaknesses, and then develop a game plan to help you greatly increase your readiness, comfort and confidence. During this coaching, you will learn skills to increase your Credibility and Likability Factors – two elements crucial to your success. The Credibility Factor has to do with presenting clear and compelling information. The Likability Factor has to do with how you deliver that information to connect with reporters and audiences at an emotional level. Studies show emotions trump data when people make decisions, and reporters often focus on emotions. Therefore, you must avoid data dumps – because journalists and audiences know at a subconscious level when someone believes in what they are saying at an emotional level, versus someone who simply delivers talking points.
Extras - A UCLA study reveals that nonverbal communication accounts for almost 90 percent of how people respond to you, and you will also learn how to transform your use of nonverbal cues. We will also share cutting-edge Q&A strategies to help you be quicker on your feet, so you can stay on message and comfortably handle a wide array of challenging questions.
